My Second Build: Tamiya A6M2 Zero Fighter

I still have to put the finishing touches on my first model, but I decided to jump the gun and start on another.

I noticed right away that this model is not as detailed as the Tamiya Wildcat I have been working on. I also discovered something interesting. The box says 2007, the decals says 2002, and the date on the plastic pieces says 1973, the plastic is a more yellowish gray than the other model also. Oh well, it was cheap...

    Nice color photo included

Dry run to see how she fits..I'd say it is ok, but I will need to use some filler.

    The cockpit I finished today

I am feeling more confident now the second time through.

It shows it's age by the thickness of the flat components. That doesn't mean to say though that it won't make into a perfectly acceptable model but may require a bit more work. There again of course Tamaya have always been years ahead so maybe, relatively speaking, it's not as old as it may seem!

Nice job on the cockpit with just the right amount of paint scuffing efects.

Very nice, and just intime to do a comparason build with my 1/48 Hasagawa A6M3 tipe 22 Zero if you are interested.

I have been a convert to Tamiya (only cause I got a few for very cheap) and thought they were the ultimate model. That is till I started this Hasegawa!

The detail in the "office" is second to none (for me) and the only thing I need to add is the safety belts. I will opst some pix later.

Sofar the one major problem I have is the lack of detail on the "cockpit collour- -Mitsubishi" I have looked at dozens of online reviews and allmost everyone shows something else!

There is a good picture here. I used Tamiya XF-71 for my cockpit. I think if I would have added a few drops of white it would have been pretty close to the picture at the link below.

Looking good Matt, keep up the good work, my B25 is my second build also. It seems to get a little easier as you go on.
