Very nice build Keith,I also have this model tucked away for a future build so looking forward to see how yours turns (hope mine turns out as nice as yours) ,n1 m8.
I might get away with the spare decals. I have a nice 'B' I could slice up. I did consider Ole's suggestion of the wear and tear by adding another ladder and turning it into a small diorama but my figure painting leaves a lot to be desired. There's a good reason there are no pilots in my planes! It is a nice kit to build Jeff and it went together very well with little trouble. I've enjoyed building it so far. I'm sure yours will turn out great.
Those keep off crosses are a pain in the bum aren't they!
Micro set, the Blue one, is ok to put down under the decal as, as the name implies, it is a setting solution. Yes it will soften the decal to a degree. Micro Sol, the red bottle, is the one that dissolves the decal...the clue being SOL as in solvent. That's the one that REALLY softens decals and buggers them up with out warning. Either it works or it destroys the decal ! I have found that the excess film can be cut away with a new fine pointed scalpel before application. It does make them a bit prone to breaking though.
Your Mossy is looking very good. Don't forget the red dot though...
I would imagin Ian's refering to the little red dot, centered in the white section of the roundel on the side decal of the fuselage, there isn't one there in your images.
The mossie is as good as finished. I knocked a carburettor intake cover off so that needs sticking back on thats about it. I used Xtracrylics matt varnish for the first time and I'm pleased with the results. I gunked up my airbrush when experimenting up it thins nicely with water and dries with a nice finish. I may get some RAF figures and turn it into a small diorama of sorts but that all. I skimped a bit on the weathering due to it being canvas covered.
