That has worked rather well. I often use Grey as well.

T'was I that called the paint problem a while ago, Italeri have even admitted their mistake and "will look into it..." I believe they said.

The underside is looking pucker by the way.

Thanks all for having a look. Well Ian, I must have an old kit as my instructions are still back to front.

      So, it's painted.

I've had a bit of fun finding Vallejo equivalents. The green was the real problem, even Airfix (Humbrol) quote two colours for Dark green, H30 and H163. Anyway, I went for Vallejo 895 'Gunship Green' which I'm still not sure about, but it's a bit late now. I've painted it ! With lots of matt varnish, decals and weathering it'll probably be ok - I hope.

At least the attached pic shows the nice surface detail Italeri has reproduced on the wing.

I would imagine that it will take a while before (or if) they change it Colin, I guess they would of had a good stock pile to get through first!

Agree with the vallejo equivalents. I gave up and bought Xtracrylix.

You have made a good job of it and it looks right. Sort of faded and sun bleached but looks great if you know what I mean...

So after many coats of Klear, the decals are on. A strange thing occured. The underside, painted in enamel, just kept drinking the Klear. Whilst the upperside, painted in acrylic, just needed a couple of coats.

I'm trying something a bit new for me, I'm going to try and make the decals a bit more worn. I've noticed with my builds, I can weather the plane but then the decals look like they have just been painted on. So this time I have sanded them down a bit and will also spray a bit of paint over them later. It might work, it might not.

                Looking good Colin.

Can't wait to finish the kitchen makeover and get my teeth into this kit. It's sitting under the bed at the mo'.

Something I noticed the other day whilst doing a search on Tamiyas site is they list this kit as one of theirs under the Italeri badge. Are they the same company then?

                Atb, Colin.

Thats not quite correct, unless they have changed it since you looked. The Italeri kits are now in their own section and it says quite clearly that the aircraft parts are by Italeri.

There is often collaboration between Eastern and Western manufacturers. Large Oriental firms produce mainly for the home market. If there is something they like but can only see a limited market, rather than the expensive process of tooling up, they buy in, often from a European firm.

Italeri co-operate with Tamiya. Hasegawa with Revell. It is well worth keeping an eye on Italeri and Revell as their prices are a lot better than Tamiya and Hasegawa's are for the same kit.

                    Thanks for the info. Ian.

Your right about it being in it's own section but couldn't understand why it was on Tamiyas site. I thought for a minute they may be the same company.

Excellent work, Colin. I like the pre-shading you did. How about adding a oil wash over the decals and making them look faded? I haven't tried it myself yet but may give it a whirl this time. I also scrape parts off the decal with my craft knife for a worn look.

Thanks again for taking a look at my progress.

Alex, an oil wash isn't something I'm familiar with, however, I did sand the decals down a bit, and sprayed over them a touch to add a bit of 'ageing'.

However, it's done. the picturs are in the 'Aircraft pictures section'

                          Cheers
