    Revell 1/48 Super Hornet

Hi, I'm going to build this next, for no other reason really than it was in the sale at the LMS. I do like the aircraft though and have built a few jets but this is my first in 1/48.

There's quite a lot of plastic in the box, for me anyway. The moulding looks really nice and crisp with lots of detail, the pic is of the wheel bays.

There is a horrible seam down the middle of the canopy which will have to go. I'll build this OOB.

All in all it looks great for the sale price of £14:99

Things going a bit slow on this build, lots of work on.

I'm not going to try and do a complete account of this but here are a few pics of how I'm getting on.

The cockpit is all decals, I dont like this but it looks ok I guess. The wheel wells are packed with detail so i'll have a bit of work with the fine brush.

I needed to fill the fit between the air intakes and the wheel wells and this same sub assembly has a long seam which I think may need some attention.

I'm enjoying the kit just wish I had a little more time to get on with it. M

A nice start Michael , the cockpit looks ok with the decals and it looks like plenty of work for you on the intakes

Got this Finished at last, been a lot going so had less time at the model bench lately. Enjoyed the build and would recommend the kit wholeheartedly, at £15 in the LMS sale its got to represent great value, overall I'm pretty pleased with the end result although I'm less happy with the canopy fit and i had to remove a seam in it which came out ok but I've managed to get it fouled up a bit. Decals by cartograph were top notch.

Only too happy to hear what you think of it and point me in the direction of where I can improve. M

              Hey Michael.

Very nice!! Other than the canopy fit (which you already mentioned and is nothing to do with you) I can't see anything wrong with that!

              Big 5 from me.

Out of curiosity, what are the measurements nose to tail and wingspan? I've got a 1:72 Super Hornet and but I'd love to to a modern 1:48 jet.

Beautifully done Michael. Top work, and that scheme really defines the top lines of the Hornet well.
