Yea! High Graham, Glad to hear you are still about.

I hope that you get the house sorted and the garage built! Sounds like you are a man that has seroius need to relax for a while.

    All the best for 2011.

          Hi Grahame,

I have been following this build from the start, and I must say you have inspired me to build my next project.

For a long time now I have been looking at building a B.E.2e, both at 1/6 and 1/4 scale.

I have opted for 1/6 as this will be 80 ā€œwing span as 1/4 would 122ā€ span. I have been collecting for some time all the scale drawings I could find, including actual construction drawings.

See attached 2 of the construction drawings. I know 1 is of a B.E.2c but the Fuselage is basically the same.

I would like to try and follow as much as reasonably possible these drawings, as I would like as much interior as possible.

Would you consider this to be too much effort for a model of this size?

It all depends if youā€™re building the model to fly; if itā€™s simply for a static display then thereā€™s no limit, apart from modelling expertise, to the amount of detailing. My models are built to fly so thatā€™s really all I can comment on.

Making details such as instruments etc. becomes progressively more difficult as the scale gets smaller and it always has to be a compromise between how much detail to add and the associated weight.

All things being equal bigger models perform better than smaller ones, most of the volume of a model is air so the airframe can be built relatively lighter therefore giving the opportunity to add more weight as details.

The details are quite practical at 18% scale so there shouldnā€™t be a problem making them at 1/6th (16.6%) scale and at 80ā€ span, as opposed to the 58ā€ span for this Se5a, the model would easily be able to handle the weight of more extensive detailing.

Thatā€™s the practical side of things but how much effort you want to put into the project is entirely up to you!

Whatever you decide don't forget to start a build thread!!

I've no idea! The photos have also gone from my Parnell Elf thread.

May be I'm persona non grata!

                    Great the photos are back.

If Alf takes another look at post 5 complete with photos it'll make more sense and he perhaps he won't "dislike" it now!

I have removed the offending dislike as it was given due to a forum hiccup.

Well I've made a start at uploading the lost photos, 2 pages done another 26 to go!

Apologies for the delay, don't know how long they've being missing, I've had a couple of emails during August but that's a very busy time for running our caravan site, things are slowing down now so got some time available for other things.

Just checked my Parnall Elf thread and photos missing from there as well!!

Strange, this is the second time my photos have gone missing!!!!!

I've uploaded as many of the missing photos as I could find, if I find any more I'll upload them.

I'll try to sort the links out as they're not working.

I'll see what I can find for the Parnall Elf thread and any tutorials etc I can find as it seems that nearly all of my photos had been "lost".
