Spitfire Mk. VI

    Hello mates,

Waiting to get new decals for my AB47 and happy with the camouflage results nf the 104 I'm here with a new "quick" model. This is a Spitfire Mk. VI from Italeri.

The kit is not so bad, but far from the standards i got used with my last Airfix kits. Anyhow, here is the box

and here the two main sprues

    .
I started glueing the side door and the guides for the canopy. The cabin inside was perfectly smooth so I added few details. Other details were added on the cabin's floor, the back wall reconstructed as well the interior of the wing radiator.

    Current status as below:

A lesser known version of the Spitfire, good choice Francesco. You asked about paints earlier for Gunze.

    Dark Green Gunze 330

    Dark Grey Gunze 335

    Light Grey (underside) Gunze 306

The 335 may be a little light, might need to darken it.

      Thanks Joe,

Exactly what I was looking for.

Short update, one side almost finished.

I also glued wings and engine compartment, fit is not so bad as I thought.

Looking good, that's certainly "upped" the detail for a 1/72nd scale cockpit

Cheers and thanks for your comments.

Yesterday I redid compass of the main gear, painted gears and propeller's blade and mounted small bits on the wings (mainly inlets).

I'm still looking at the seat, it doesn't look right with the headrest so low and close to the seat.

                Joe,

Do you have a Gunze also for the dirty/ivory white of the propeller and fuselage's band?

                Thanks,

                Francesco

The head rest isn't too bad.

The colour of the spinner and fuselage band was 'Sky'. There may be a Gunze version of this colour.

                  Cheers

                  Steve

                    Thanks Steve

Found the color, H74 Sky (duck egg green).

H74 is a duck egg blue equivalent, you may want to also look at H31 for the sky colour.

                          Thanks Joe and Ian.

Joe, I will give a look at it too.

BTW I've found Eduard suggests 330, 331 and 332 for RAF WWII camouflage.

                          Right fuselage done and primed.

At the time it was introduced Sky type "S" (formerly known as "Camotint") was officially described as duck-egg blue; there was no such colour as duck-egg green, though some "helpful" Air Ministry mandarin described it as "duck-egg bluish-green."

Nice progress Francesco. You go with whatever you think the best colours are. I am simply converting them from the Humbrol enamel range.
