With the pilot modifications complete its time to set the seating height, im sure you all agree that he looks quite at home in there now. Even got him to pose for the camera.
Thank you Ron. This build will take some topping by me. Thanks for the kind word. All this hard work is for 'The Old Dutch' And i know she would be proud bless her.
Hi andy, the build just gets better and better, true dedication! Youre right about the pilot figure- it looks unbelievably real, superb bit of sculpting by whoever ! he's going to be the icing on a superb plane shaped cake!!! cheers tony
Well, we can progress further with the cock pit now i have sorted the pilot out.
The rear bulkhead behind the pilot has now been laminated and a coat of clear varnish added, this will be sanded and another coat to finish it off.

Now, this bulkhead has a back rest attached to it for the pilots comfort. This is a simple structure, nothing flash just a piece of 3/4 ply with a built up foam pad and completely covered with leather and then attached to the rear. I made this as follows with car body filler, solatek and a piece of balsa. Painted in acrylic leather.
The seat is a basic bench arrangement that has a padded seat secured to it, I have started on this by making the Bench from a piece of scrap balsa and laminated thin ply.
