The quality on this is consistently 100 % andy , superb mate. I'm with you on the "fly or not" issue, after all the work i would hate to see it trashed, its a totally accurate scale model worthy of display. (btw ,when its finished, have you thought about loaning it to a museum for display? im sure many would jump at the chance of showing such a magnificent exhibit) cheers mate tony

Thanks Guys. Its coming along nicely. I see what your saying about loaning it out Tony, would be a good idea. I will look around and see who will be interested.

        Cheers

Well its been a while since i have been here i must admit. I got some catching up to do lol. I'm sure you have all been busy working on you masterpieces and i look forward to browsing them.

I have now completed the gun inspection hatch and it has been a long slow process, it has also been a tricky one getting it just right. This will be a working hatch to show off the Vickers Gun so i have had to make some hinges for it, something that hopefully will last.

A brief description before you trawl through the pics.

Firstly glue some balsa stock together and sand into a profile that fits the bill, Permagrit tools are great for this!!. Next, cover with cling-film to provide a barrier between the balsa and the resin. Add a mesh for extra strength and cover with 2 layers of glass.

Once dry, sand to an almost smooth finish and apply 2 coast of finishing resin, smooth with 60 grit sand paper.

Add the litho plate and cut out the ejection shaft. Now just add details, rivets. Hammer a piece of brass into shape to form the cowl.

          Enjoy.

Thanks Ian. There wasnt a part with the kit and i doubt it would look right if there was, just like the engines. When painted im sure it will look a lot better.

              Cheers
