    Thanks Vaughan looks like polished it is then. Here is the steady progress I'm making with these under carriage struts. I say slow because in not using anything to from these such as band saws or routers, just the dremel to cut out the slots everything else is done by hand using the Permagrit sanding block, a saw and sand paper.

    Once these are finished i will remove the under carriage section and fill and sand where necessary. There is still a way to go with this section so it will take some time to complete.

        Looking superb and varnished wood is definately the best decision! This is coming along very nicely and the woodwork is first class.

          Thanks guys for your kind words. Having completed the list of jobs Ting Ting had for me today i made some progress on the under carriage. Now at the filling and sanding stage.

          Again, I'm more than happy with how these have turned out and know that as i progress they are going to look even better when finished.

          Cheers

            I'm not fan of clasical music to post some Bach or something... but this song will describe my feelings (hope so )

            Best meaning is in title: Hypnotise - with your work my friend...

            [video=youtube;LoheCz4t2xc]

            Waiting for my girl - waiting to be in finished gallery (read like that)

              Thats fantastic Roman, to know my work would have such an effect on people is really warming. Makes me feel proud for both myself and 'The Old Dutch', never to be forgotten, always loved forever.

              Thanks

                Well if we are going all song titles how about this one:

                Nice legs, (shame about the boat race).

                Serious time: that is a great pair of legs.

                    While i have been adding endless coats of stain to the under carriage i thought i might make a start on the Axel fairing. I did it in strips because i was going to clamp the two rods that stick out either side for the fairing support, having looked closer on the net i found that there are special brackets that hold this in place so i glued them together and will make the brackets shortly. Ignore the hinges, these are temp so i could hold it to stain it. I ordered some precise engineered hinges from a dolls house company and have them now ready to fit shortly. The upper section is hinged to provide access to the shaft. this will be painted to match the plane.

                    Here are the stained struts, still detail to add to them yet, just waiting for the second coat of satin fuel proof to dry.

                        Yeh, they would look good. apply 3 coats before sanding with fine paper, anything less and you will go back to the wood again. I have 6 coats of stain to get down dark enough, hard wood will take less.

                        Cheers

                            No problem, there are some waxes you can buy that stain at the same time, they give a graet finish.
