This continues to amaze and is coming along beautifully. The quality of craftmanship is of the highest standard and the parts that you are getting together are looking pretty amazing.
As for eventually flying the end product I'm going to feel very nervous putting my steam coaster on the pond when it's finished but, hopefully, the chances of it sinking will be pretty remote. Compared to the chances of yours having a crash I'd go with mine any day! Just watch a few YouTube clips of crashing RC aircraft to put you right off!
Lol, I'm with you all the way there mate. I got a decent size pond 5 feet deep 9 feet diameter in my garden. I can check the Happy Hunter on it before i sail it but i think now... there is no way 'The Old Dutch' will every fly. not in my life time anyway. I will put her together and fit everything in her ready to fly but on the ground she will stay. Might even taxi her a few times if I'm at a static show and apart from cranking her up every so often, that is all she will do.
Yes Ron I promise. I lost one 'Old Dutch' I'm not going to lose another. Having built it for the reason i have i guess the grief of destroying her will wreck my world all over again. Its been a year today since i lost 'The Old Dutch' i hope she is in that better place that people talk about... enjoying herself with all her old friends and family that were so dear to her. I cant help but have a tear in my eye as i type this. God Bless you Mom.
Now that i have gathered my thoughts i can show you tonight progress. I have started the metal work on the stained struts. This is a bare canvas for a few scale rivets, nuts and bolts and small roundhead screws. Once complete i will apply a coat or 2 of flat black polishing enamel before applying a final coat of fuel proof.
