Thanks Trey, not quite sure how im going to do this as yet. As the exhaust wont be seen i may just cheat and use a piece of special silicon tube to just extend it through the botton grille. I may also make a manufold for two ports at the bottom. Stay tuned for the outcome lol.

    Cheers

'Ang on Andy. Could you not run the exhaust out to the "real exhaust" Or would it cause to much back pressure in the engine?

The way I see it is the SE5 had that nice exhaust down the side of the fuselage coming out of the engine bay. Make the pipe out of ally tube and run the silicon hose from the motor own through that......

Juat an idea. (bonus, you will get exhaust staining where it should be too)

Hi Ian, that would be an ideal situation but back pressure and engine overheating along with fuel spreading over the plane. Those nice looking exhausts will be constructed but the real exhaust will be routed out of the bottom where it cant be seen and spray less fuel along the fuse.

        Cheers

The engine bay has now had a coat of Solalac applied with the air brush. Looks a lot better.

Decided to move onto the dash next, i love these fiddley bits and been looking forward to this since i started. I have scaled a picture to the correct size and can now get to work.

Absolutely amazing Andy! I don't know anything about this kind of aircraft but I'm thoroughly enjoying watching you build it.Keep up the good work,I know you will.

Thanks Steve. Its a good project, i will post some history soon on this aircraft. What i can tell you now is she was a WW1 Bi-Plane and was very effective.

              Thanks again

I see you've already found a use for that link I posted the other day!

Motor room looking fine now, I think the dash will be great when you are done doing your magic!

A little more progress today on the dash. I looked through my stash of bits and evergreen and this is what i came up with.

Andy the detail on the selector and valve plumbing is great! I keep forgetting how large this bird is!

A little more progress on the dash. The supplier of the Vickers Gun and Lewis Gun are still awaiting delivery of the Lewis Gun. I have asked them to send me the Vickers Gun ahead so that i can progress with the fuss. i placed the order for these about 3 weeks ago and it is holding me up slightly.

                            Hi Andy

Great progress on the SE5 - this is going to be really impressive. You must post pics of it flying when you've finished.

I've been reading the problems you've been having with the dash distortion so I had a little go myself. The file size isn't massive, I'd need the original file for that(I just took a screen grab). Also there's a slight fish eye to the lens that you just simply won't get rid of but I've straightened it up as much as I could.

You may have already sorted this but if this helps at all...

Hi Andy! I love your dedication to detailing this on a level close to replication. If you have more plumbing to do; here's a trick that might come in handy for you. Before make the bends in the copper pipes insert a length of brass wire of the same diameter as the pipes inner diameter. This way you can avoid flatting the pipe along the bends.

If in fact you what the pipes to be capable of carrying fluids after being bend you'll need to use another approach. Plug one end of the copper pipe with something waterproof, then fill the pipe with water, seal the other end and stuff it in the freezer for a good number of hours. Now you need to work quickly; take out the frozen pipe and make the bends before the ice starts melting, if it does; check the seals and put it back in the freezer again. You probably can't avoid flattening altogether but it will help you reduce it.

I look forward to see this one get through it maiden-flight and I hope you'll post some video of it too!

                              /Daniel

Thanks Paul for your assistance, i will keep this as a standby if the CAD doesnt come out well, appreciated. Daniel, great tips there, i wll definatly give this a try on the other parts that need pipe. I did use a proper pipe bender but as you rightly observed, one of them did kink.

                                Thanks both.
