    Rick's 1/72 Airfix Lightning

I got this kit for Christmas, it's taken me since then to get this far. It's nice to build with no real problems. I'm adding an aftermarket bang seat from Pavla but the rest is out of the box.

There's still a little way to go; touching in some paint, the canopy, seat fitting and the weapons pylons along with a sealing coat of Clear and light weathering.

Applying the decals took three evenings to do!

The final coat of Humbrol Clear has been applied and this is ready for weathering when dry. I still have the canopy decals to do as well as the decals for the missiles - they're drying too.

I don't seem to have such a hight opinion of Clear as some. A few times now I have applied a second coat only to find it fogs the model, not happy. I also find it does the same to clear canopy parts. My Dakota's clear sprues all have fogging or tide marks on them.

So I get all the remaining decals on the camopy done, the sticky out bits and a touch of weathering only to find that the resin ejection seat I bought and painted for this build has gone missing. Bugga!

Looks very good Rick, hoping you find your ejection seat.

I returned from a business trip to find that my replacement ejection seat by Pavla had arrived. The detail is fantastic and I'm hoping my paint job on it will finish off this build just right.

I'm using Vallejo Model Air, Humbrol Clear and Lifecolour for the weathering which is their greasy effect. I used it for the greasy deposits on the wheels and on the underside aft of the arrestor hook.
