    Hello guys

A bit more progress to report :smiling4:

The mistake with the side windows has been rectified. I used IPA on a cotton bud as recommended by Pete (cheers Pete :thumb2 which worked perfectly to remove the primer.
The windows were then polished up and masked with Tamiya tape.

I also had another attempt at removing the lingering ghost seam by adding a bit more filler and sanding it back. It’s not perfect but I think it looks a bit better now.

I rescribed the few panel lines lost during all the sanding and added the final few lumps and bumps.

I’ve still got the raised rivet decals to add but from what I’ve read they are better done over the primer before painting. I’m going to practice with them on a paint mule to see how effective they are.

So hopefully I should be able to get the top coat paint on soon.

    Thanks for looking :thumb2:

            Hello guys,

A bit more progress to report.

I had been waiting for some solder balls to try and replace some of the lost raised rivet detail. After waiting an age for them to arrive on a slow boat from China I realised that I had ordered the wrong size so rather than balls it was more like fairy dust :confounded:

Rather than delay it any longer I decided not to worry and concentrate on finishing.

I have painted the underside with Vallejo Model Air 71-121 (fs.36440). I first laid down a mottled coat over the primer before adding heavily thinned layers to prevent obliterating the blotchy effect I was after.

Once dry this was masked off and the upper side was given similar treatment again using Vallejo Model Air but this time it was 71.279 (fs.37875) Insignia White.

The rather large rotors are also painted up they were given a coat of Vallejo Model Air 71.251 (fs.37030). While the rotors head was painted using Tamiya X-18 semi gloss black.

Gloss coat and decals next then the fun starts with the weathering :smiling4:

Another update soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

Try Archer transfers. They do rivet and weld decals with raised detail in most scales and they provide a good service.

This is going nicely Geoff. Should be quite impressive once it’s done.

HI Scottie would these decals be any good for my gun turrets in 1/72 ?

Maybe Chris, but you’ll have to find them in the UK. It’s a US company.

                    Naval here…

Geoff might find these aircraft ones useful….

I think the decals have really made it pop and although not perfect I’m pleased with how it’s turned out considering the fight it’s given me.
