Stole a few minutes this morning before the rain came down again.
Today was a day for adding the aerials, transponder, fuel dump pipe and such.
Left off the clear parts. Hopefully I'll remember to mask the locations off before painting again.
No big additions, just getting more ancillaries fitted prior to last primer coat and base colours - sometime!!!!

One of the things I wish I had done before painting was adding the upper and lower anti collision lights. The bases are the airframe colour and it was a pain to do them later after forgetting them.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

Todays progres has been slow but productive. Rotor head has been commenced, quite few fiddly bits and the track rods are sat on the sprue, painted, awaiting fitting!

How come some of the little jobs take so long? Masked off the wheel wells ready for a coat of white. Took longer than anticipated. As I had white in the airbrush I also painted the struts for the wheels.
In between that lot I decided to hand paint the rotor head. (No pics of that as the head isn't completely finished).

              Pic 1
              Masked off the offending area!
I did add an addition cover over the fuselage prior to spraying!!

With the black primer it looks suitable wheel soiled.
I also took the opportunity to experiment with adding the stress lines on the tail section. I applied a few diagonal white lines with the AB on a fine setting. If I remember I will try and take a picture tomorrow. Hopefully that will show up as a simple shadow once the top coats are applied.

Thank you Geoff. Slowly - slowly. I'm getting used to not rushing into things. Spending a lot more time prepping stuff prior to fitting and alway but always dry fitting twice before glueing. Itching to get the final colour on but a bit more work before I get to that stage.

Today I painted the underside of the lights chrome in readiness for fitting!!! (Thanks for the prompt!)

Just following up on yesterdays post regards the stress markings.
This is what I did to see if putting the white lines on the tail will simulate the panting that occurs on Naval Sea Kings. If it doesn't work - well! I tried!!!

Cheers Jakko. If it works a bonus. If it doesn’t - something to think about for next time!!!

Ho! A very busy day. As it was warm I risked a test with my Light Grey Vallejo primer!! I resprayed the Sea King another coat of primer with the Vallejo!! Risky - but it worked out. I reckon the temperature and humidity were in my corner today. Then another risk. Some 6 hours later I put the first coat of final colour Dark Sea Grey.
However, before I got that far I plugged a few holes, namely the undercarriage wells. Taped off as many aerials as could remember!! Forgot a couple!!!!
In between all this painting, I put the final touches to the rotor head. Last pieces fitted other than the dome on top.
Whilst all this was going on, one pitot tube detached and another simply snapped!!! One easily rectified the second was dodgy with my eyesight trying to align the two pieces in the correct orientation before the TET set!!
Main rotor blades had a first top coat.
Wheels were painted and connected to their struts once dry. (They still remain to be installed into the wheel wells until body shell paining is completed.
Red anti-collision lights were painted with a clear red in ready for the body to be finished.
Rescue hoist frame was attached to hoist assembly and dry fitted to ensure I won't have any snags after the glue sets!!
And I still managed to take the pooch walkies - TWICE!!

Usual couple of pics. Nothing too spectacular!
