That's what was in the box old bean If I was making them as a display for myself I would probably make something up from some clear acrylic rod, but I wanted to do this strictly OOB as a sort of homage to Airfix. The first model I ever built (I use the term loosely) was the Spitfire IX (JE-J) which was made from blue plastic and came in a bag! They've come a long way since then..
