    COMPLETED A-10A Thunderbolt II

As what's starting to be normal for me I didn't do the regular colour scheme you always see, I like different so here is my version of the "Peanuts" scheme. I managed to get some decals for the aircraft off the internet and away I went.

Affectionately referred to as "Peanut", this one-of-a-kind camouflage was applied to an Air Force Reserve aircraft from 47th TFS / 917th TFG located at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana as a test camouflage for the A-10. The thought was to develop a desert camouflage for the aircraft for use in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. The camouflage was not adopted and the unit was instructed to repaint the aircraft before it was deployed to the Gulf.

Like me, you like to make something different, love it!

Did the 'Jack and Jill/ Jakob's' ladder come with the kit. or did you make it yourself?

      Makes a great finishing touch

Now that is a work of art Adrian , and what a meaty beast she is , I've heard that when the A10 fires it's Gatling gun it's so powerful it actually slows down the aircraft do you know if there's any truth to this ?

I've heard this to Alan, don't remember where...does that make it true?

Going onto the water now, I read that the Iowa class battleship (Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and New Jersey) when they fired full broadside, they shifted 12 metres in the opposite direction!

There you go, a bit of useless information. ops:

I heard the same and understood that if they fitted two, the plane would actually force itself backward,,, again I only heard it, not sure if its true

Cheers Adrian and lee , it's funny how we here these things but we can never know if it's true or if it's an urban legend , I don't think it's on many pilots minds to check the speed when aiming at an armoured column during a mission

Awesome work Adrian, you wouldn;t want to be in an enemy armoured vehicle (or a mistaken friendly one) with that pointing at you.

                        From http://www.stripes.com/blogs/the-rumor-doctor/the-rumor-doctor-1.104348/does-the-a-10-s-gun-slow-the-plane-when-fired-1.152557

"I have fired as many as 500 rounds in one trigger burst, that takes just about seven, eight seconds, and [it had] no impact on the air speed of the aircraft," said Ruhel, who has logged 3,500 hours flying A-10s.

It boils down to simple physics: Force = Mass x Acceleration.

"The bullets are only about three-quarters of a pound," Ruehl said. "The airplane, in a typical combat mission, is 40,000 pounds. When you got 40,000 pounds moving at 350 knots, that's a lot more [force] than a three-quarter pound bullet moving at 2,000 feet per second."

Another myth about the A-10's cannon is pilots can only fire short bursts because if they squeeze the trigger for too long, the heat will melt the barrels.

In reality, you will not turn the A-10's gun into molten lava if you fire all 1,150 rounds the plane holds in one long burst, but you will certainly shorten the gun's life, Ruehl said.
