I can't actually remember what the winner was but it was streets ahead of my effort, the standard of models at the club I attend is exceptional. I'll post a link to it when the club website is updated.

Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.

Thanks for all the comments about this build and I'm really chuffed to hear that it had a decent number following and showing an interest. I hope that you all found it rewarding and inspiring, thanks for allowing me to share it with you all.

I have two more in the stash and the next one will be a totally different build....whenever that might be!

I learned a lot about the Nimrod from your build Rick. Will watch out for your photo of the model that pipped you to the first place, it must be out fo this world.

This is the entry that more than deservedly won the monthly competition.

Apologies for the late post Rick , Ive only just seen this one. I just love this , you can tell throughout the build and in the finished product that this is a real labour of love. The whole scene is superb and totally realistic as only someone who has been in very close contact with the aircraft and its systems and procedures could know. I hope you got a great reception at your IPMS meeting , it certainly deserves it! Fantastic build of an equally fantastic aircraft ( prematurely retired and sorely missed ) Great build , cheers tony

That is superb Rick as Tony said above an aircraft sorely missed also replaced with nothing.

That's quite an apt description of the Nimrod, graceful lines but with a muscular physique. She certainly packed a mean punch. It wasn't until the turn of the century that her Special Weapons (nuclear) capability was finally removed.
