This kit was produced by Airfix as part of their tie-up/sponsorship in the creation of 'Spitfire Roundabout' in Blackpool. For anyone interested, the story is here:

This is an installation of three spitfire models in half, third and quarter scale to impart a sense of false perspective and was unveiled last year. My son-in-law is an engineer who did a lot of the design work and the kit was given to me last year by my daughter. There might well be some still available, but only through the Blackpool Tourist Office. Picture for discussion purposes only:

I don't typically build in 1/72, but this went together very nicely indeed and was put together straight out of the box. I didn't use the supplied paints however; these were SMS.

Very nice indeed. I watched the Hornby program where it showed this model being designed and produced. The stand was a new concept that was well received.

Just caught this one nick , great work . The airfix spit is a lovely kit and youve done a brilliant job .Ive seen the installation on the roundabout at Blackpool several times , its a fantastic thing and a great nod to the role the airfield at Squires Gate contributed during the war . Love this , cheers tony
