    Bf109....Academy.... 1/72

So this was done purely as a test mule ready for the FW190 GB next year

Need to practice brush painting and try to come up with a way of doing the mottling

Not too impressed with the result....need to either practice more or come up with another method

first Academy plane ive ever done.....went together with no drama

Looks good to me, sort of mean and purposeful! as it should.

It's been a fair few decades since I built anything 'Axis' but my mottling technique was to use an old brush that had gone a bit stiff with paint at the ferrule end, cut the bristles down to an eighth of an inch and stipple the paint as you would while dry brushing with a repeated gentle poking motion! . . . if you know what I mean?

Miko (mottle free since about 1978!)

        Very nice little plane.....
When I did the mottling camo on my Half Track, I did as above, eg: cut the bristles down on an old brush.
But I think I put too much paint on the brush, as mine ended up a bit blotchy, so the old addage of "less is more" is good, eg: you can always add a bit more. Cheers

Glad the kit went together nicely. That's a good result. The hard part of mottling is to get the nice fade out towards the edges.

Yep, need to use a tiny amount of paint, it's better to add more than remove excess.

Miko (less can be more but loads and loads, probably isn't Ha!)
