the hub and the tyre are very close in colour,

The wheels have been at the bottom of a lake for a long time! They would originally been a blacker colour if that makes sense.


All the WW2 era tyres I've seen are pretty much standard tyre colour, not dissimilar to a modern car tyre. If anything the aircraft tyres are more black than modern car tyres, but I like to lighten them. It's one of those artistic decisions
