Dear all
Firstly apologies for being so tardy in my attendance but for some reason finding any time to get on the forum is proving a challenge.
Anyway.....much later than planned, please find below the final shots of the finish Tiffy. As I don't have very good indoor lighting I like to take my completed pics outside in better quality light but time and the weather have not been kind.
So as you know this build was intended as an exercise in seeing just how far I have come - whilst admitting I still have a long way to go.
My first attempt at this kit, albeit with different markings and what I had to 'beat', was done in May 2018 and was the first plane I did (badly with the brush) upon returning to the hobby. As you know though, I still have it and won't throw it away because it's part of my modelling journey and a reminder of just how far I have come - hopefully.
It was also an exercise in seeing if it possible to AB with the Humbrol starter set paints. Turns out it is and actually the metallic paint sprayed very nicely.....the matt paints though are very coarse, giving the plane an almost furry feel before the varnish was applied.
Despite a few very minor faults, I really am very pleased with how this has turned out and in some ways is the kit I am most proud of; in part because I did it gun bays open for the first time and it worked well, but most probably because I have a direct comparison on how far I have come.
Details on the kit/paints as follows:
On another point, whilst the Humbrol dark green is often criticised as not a good match colour wise, I personally think it looks closer than my usual Vallejo Model Air Dark Green. It has therefore increased my suspicion that the Vallejo offering is a bit too 'green' to my eye....certainly compared to many others I have seen, which seem to be more muted. I have some ideas on how to address this next time I do an RAF plane.
Pics below as usual. Apologies for the number but as I said I am very, very pleased with it.
All comments and feedback - positive or negative - welcome as usual.

PS apologies for the backdrop...it was the place where I could get the best light
PPS the completed build can be found HERE.

Details on the kit/paints as follows:
- Kit: Airfix 1:72 Hawker Typhoon IB starter set A55208
- Decal: Kit decals
- Paints: Wherever possible the Humbrol starter set paints and if not Vallejo Model Air and Model Colour, and possibly some Revell and/or Humbrol on the pilot.
- Weathering: Flory wash (dark dirt) and Vallejo game wash for the exhaust stains.
