Good work Dave. The interior is looking great. Hopefully you won't have too many issues fitting turrets etc into that closed fuselage.

The kit is designed so that the turrets can be fitted in after painting. Not like the old Airfix bombers that you had to cut the bottoms off the turrets if you wanted to fit them at the end. This ones only got a dorsal and tail turret.

I've glued the tailplane parts together this evening. Then I glued the resin engines into the wings and finally the wing halves together.i started to make push rod tubes for the engines.Ive got 0.025 inch plastic rod.But it looked over scale so I didn't bother in the end.i tried a dry fit of the wings and tail to see if I've got enough lead in the nose. And it seems I have.So it should sit nicely on its tricycle undercarriage.

Coming together nicely Dave. Great looking interior and nice idea beefing up the gear bulkhead with all that lead going in!

I can attest to the poor fit on the airfix kit - the front undercarriage doors were far worse too. Liking the look of this though.

Not sure if you have decals on the inside of the tail fins, but if you do, you might consider putting them on if possible before you put the fins on, mind you the ones I chose had complete rudder decals and that was a real problem after they were in place.

The Airfix 1/72 is a very old kit and typical of kits of that time.Academy do a much better kit with engraved panel lines if you want a decent B24 in that scale

I've been doing a lot of filling and sanding on this model. This aircraft didn't have the ball turret fitted under the fuselage. So there's a panel to fill the hole which needs filling and sanding. The crew hatch isn't a good fit either. And the engine nacelles need a lot of work to get rid of all the gaps.

After several sessions of filling and sanding engine cowling joins ive finally got some paint on the wings. Two coats of Alclad grey primer to be precise. The fuselage will be next after I've glued on the nose transparency and masked it up.I was going to rescribe this model. But as the raised detail is very fine ive decided to leave it and just scribe on any detail lost during sanding.I saw this model done this way at Cosford. And it looked good to me.Ive found a photo of the actual aircraft Im modelling. The paint work looks very faded. So I'm going to have a go at replicating the finish on this model.

Looks good Dave. That fading will be a good challenge.

That's a ropey old example indeed. Propellers look quite new though.. It will be a interesting challenge to re-create that finish.
