I'm having a DSG over Sky phase at the moment. I had lots of time in the Man Cave this weekend and managed to get this one finished off. I started it a few weeks ago and got a bit side tracked with the Gannet. It's a relatively new tool and goes together like a charm. Only complaint if there was one, is the method of securing the folded wing is a bit flimsy; I CA'd it in the end just to be on the safe side.
Pretty much built OOB except for an Eduard PE harness and some resin wheels with treaded tyres that I had in the spares box. I did cut off the rear flaps for the radiator intakes and scratch built some from plasticard, just because the kit ones were too chunky IMO. Painted in Tamiya acrylic, Pre-shaded and a little bit of post shade on some of the upper surface panels but no wash, the panel lines are quite deep so I thought they would offer enough contrast as they are I also wanted a cleaner well maintained look for this one.
I have been trying a different technique during the painting process. It involves stealing lint free cotton pads from SHMBO (they're little square things she uses for makeuppy stuff) and using them dry to buff the paint between coats. it has two advantages. one, it removes any minor contaminants and two, it gives a smoother finish to the finished paint job. I'm happy with the results I'm getting anyway!
