Republic P-47 Thunderbolt in Russia

    Hi chaps

Finished this one today and calling it complete.

    P-47-D.27RE Vasenga-1 1945

Little is known of the operations flown by the 203 P-47Ds that were supplied to the Soviet Union during World War Two. The aircraft were ferried to Abadan, Iran where they were handed over to Soviet Pilots for delivery into Russia.

I have depicted this aircraft No 227062 as just being handed over and so has had a little sand damage which has chaffed the olive drab painted at the factory.

Hope you enjoy and all comments welcome

Nice to see some thing different from the US/UK colour schemes, on a popular subject!

Nice. I am guessing this is the Tamiya Jug in 1/48?

It's the old Academy 1/72 P-47 . decals I obtained externally ( from the U.S. no less but worth it to make a popular aircraft look different .

Nice job Robert. The sand blasted effect looks convincing.
