Airfix 1/72 Lockheed L1049 Super Constellation

Heres a model I did about 5 years ago and only ever posted it on the old gallery . Its come to light today as Ive been extending the cabinet I keep my completed builds in (up till now this ones been under a makeshift shelter as there wasnt enough room inside !) -so i thought Id dust it off and take some pics.

Its the Airfix rebox of the Heller mouldings and is quite a nice build ,but very big . Its a beautiful aeroplane and the model really captures the graceful lines . I had to take the pics on the garden table and was assisted by Fred the cat who thinks he lives with us (hes not actually ours but he comes to visit every day , we dont know his name so we christened him Fred Dibnah , dont really know why but it suits him and he answers to it now!!) The same scale Lavochkin la5 in the last pic is to give an idea of the size of the Connie. -tony

      That's a lovely Connie there Tony - although it's now Fred's

There used to be one on display outside Frankfurt airport ( a Constellation, not a Fred!)

Nice build, great lines like you say. We also have a visiting cat. I call it 'black cat' for obvious reasons - even though you've never seen it..

Joe: Stunning work Tony, that looks very smart in the QANTAS scheme. Awesome job.

Fred: Wow, thanks Tony, look at all these little chin scratching posts. You're the best!

Start is where it ends for me. My B-17 got the treatment from our cat, no damage though. Except it turns out that loose propellers make good mouse simulators.

Ahh Tony! Comparing this, which was built when you were a mere youth, with your current builds only confirms that your talents have not diminished with your advancing years! There must be hope for all the rest of us oldies!
