Airfix 1/72 Curtiss Tomahawk IIB (Starter Set version)

As per my Hurricane, this was a cheapie starter set I finished this week to clear the way for a couple of larger projects (1/48 Spit XVI and a 1/72 Lancaster... so considerably larger projects!). Fell together very nicely, but the "mid stone" and "azure" the Starter Set included apparently aren't a great tone match for the RAF desert scheme, so used instead Middle Stone Hu225 (rather than Hu93) and lightened up some Hu25 Matt Blue with some Hu34 White for the Azure Blue (rather than the Hu157 Azure provided). Blue looks too blue to me but some old colour photos suggest it might still be right.

Love the shark's mouth, and the decals for this went on really easily, had been a bit worried by them! Did some research on the proper aerial set-up for an RAF Tomahawk, and then entirely chickened out of replicating that!

Again, a new tool from Airfix that is very well manufactured.

Right. Onward & upward. Revell 1/72 Lancaster Mk I/III time... a step up for me! (Have caved and bought the Eduard masks for this one...!)

Thanks all - Ian, no... this one I'm afraid is being sacrificed to my 8-year-old! It's just how the family works - I get to keep & display about half the models, the rest serve out their time as toys. But I've got a project coming up that needs a base (Blenheim Mk I coming into land, flaps down etc) so need to figure out how to do that pretty soon.

Looks good.I know what you mean about the Humbrol 157 Azure blue.I recently built a Douglas Boston and lightened the blue with white as you have done as I also thought it was too dark.

That's a mean looking tomahawk Alasdair, real decent work with the brushes! Let's hope your little one/ones enjoy them

                Cheers
