    Nakajima A6M2N 'Rufe' SWEET 1/144

Heres a 'little' something ive just finished. The Sweet 1/144 nakajima 'rufe' , a superb kit with excellent details and complete with a beaching dolly and a tiny water base PLUS theres 2 of everything in the box. These kits really are unbelievable, theres about 10 decal options and the decals themselves are by cartograf and excellent. This is the first one in the grey scheme, and i think the second one is going to be in the green. The only things i had to add were a pitot tube from a toothbrush bristle and aerial wire courtesy of my missus' hair!! any hoo heres the pics, all comments crits welcome cheers tonylane:

Fabulous build, i know how fiddly these are having built my bf109z.

For anyone who hasn't tried them i highly recommend them, they're fabulous kits. I'm impressed with the finish on this one.

Was in your neck of the woods just last week, visiting relatives and friends btw. Sheffield has no more to offer or impress me since I left it's sad to say.

That's incredible work on something so small. Either that or you're telling fibs about the scale and you've got massive hands!

              It looks excellent Tony.

Can you get naval models in 1/144? Is there any scope for dioramas in this scale? It would make it a bit more manageable from a space perspective.

              Cheers Tony

Amazing work Tony, very well done.

I really would liked to have had a stab at one of these superb little kits, but sadly I think my peepers are past such things....

                Cheers mucker,

                Ron

That is really a SWEET kit! Incredible work, top marks! Two questions: Tell me you didn't mask that green house canopy, though if you didn't, how did you paint it so well? And how did you paint that stand, the water looks so convincing!

Thanks everyone for your comments, marcos, the canopy was done by hand painting the frame lines then tidying them up by scraping carefully with a sharpened cocktail stick (all done under the magnifier of course!) I had to keep re-touching and scraping but it turned out not too bad. The water was just various blues greens and sand coloured vallejo acrylics all put on at the same time and mixed a bit to blend them in,then just a bit of white on the wave tops and once dry,a coat of gloss clear.Paul, as for a dio in this scale,i was toying with the idea of doing the second kit in a mini beach scene with just a bit of sand with a few palm trees and the plane moored up in the shallows, it would only have to be about4 inches square, but the palm trees would be a real test!!! cheers tony
