    Rick's 1/72 Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat "Sundowners"

I finished this tonight, I wanted to get it done before Ralph finished his! It was okay as it goes, I'm not that Impressed with these Hasegawa kits as I am with the current crop from Airfix or Eduard but it has turned out alright. And at £3.50 from a charity shop I have more that got my money's worth. If I had seen this in a model shop I would never have picked it up but I'm glad I stuck with it because I learned from it, at the end of the day that's a good thing.

The only deficiency is two of the smaller probes on the side of the fuselage, the carpet monster ate one of them. If I can be bothered I'll make some from brass rod.

This is out of the box except for resin seats using Vallejo Model Air paint and Railmatch varnishes.

    Comments etc welcome...enjoy.

Even in 1/72 that's still a fair-sized kit! Great work, the paint is lovely & smooth - nice attention to detail on the little bits like the ordnance & tailhook

Really nice Rick, I've aways liked those markings, adds a bit of colour to an otherwise drab scheme. You don't sound too impressed with the Hasegawa F-14, what was wrong with it?

There is a mix of engraved lines on the wings but raised lines everywhere else and I'm not that impressed with the forward fuselage to aft fuselage join by the intakes. And there are dozens of decals! I suppose it is a product of its time Mike and as modern production standard rise we become more critical of older models. I just happen to think that Hasegawa kits are overpriced for what you get.

Thanks for the GB and comments.
