    papa 695s 1/72 Project Airfix Spitfire Mk1a

A little story behind this one. I'm a site manager of the local primary / junior school and the head mistress was talking about after school clubs and what the children would like to do. So I told her about Project Airfix it's a scheme that Airfix have started to get children interested in modelling.after a bit of a chat she decided that if I'm willing to spend time teaching them that she would buy the kits from Airfix.

So I got the Spitfire and Me 109 sets, and I've built this one to show them what they look like.im starting the club next Tuesday 19th January.

If just one kid keeps up the hobby you will have done a great thing Ian. Great to see someone giving up their time to promote the hobby and even show youngsters that imagination and history can take them anywhere. The PlayStation/XBox limits them to the game they play and what the designers dictate.

Fantastic job Ian, and good luck with the school group. Good of you to take the time to introduce kids to the hobby, and a fantastic way of learning about history along the way.

Great stuff Ian, the younger generation are the key to our hobby surviving.

That's a brilliant idea. I'm sure my ex teacher who 'runs' our leader and politics free laid back modelling club did something slightly similar but more bring whatever you want.

Anything to encourage the younger ones is good.

What a great idea! Anything that gets kids away from sitting in front of a screen all day has to be a good thing.... until they discover online modelling forums

A lovely little Spitfire too Ian, I'm sure the ankle biters will like it as much as I do.

They should be inspired by your great looking Spitfire.
