    41(F) Squadron in 1/48 - Sopwith 7F1 Snipe

    Hi all;

Well, the 41(F) Sqn in 1/48 project draws to a close! This is the latest offering - the Sopwith Snipe by Blue Max Models. As you'd expect from a limited run model, its has its...challenges, shall we say? That said, it had lots of white metal in the box (lovely engine and guns), and went together ok with some encouragement. I don't enjoy building biplanes, and this isn't up to the standard that I think I can achieve, but there you go. Because it's limited run and a biplane, I've had it in the stash for a few years and have been trying to ignore it, but it had to be done to finish off the collection!

Finished as a 41(F) Sqn machine, RAF Northolt 1925.

To say you don't like bi- planes Andy you have done a great job on this one, and great work on the rigging.

So now you've finished the 41 SQN builds what's next on your plans

This is a stunning example to say you don't like bi planes, I mean really well done. Love the silver finish and that rigging. ( never been my favourite )

So what Sqn do you ink you will be working on next.? Do you have any preference?

      Regards

There won't be another Sqn build - I served on 41, so that's why I did it. And this project isn't quite finished - yet!!

Oh the reason I asked was if there was another sqn is were you ever deployed/ posted in a shortfall to another unit/ squadron, that's the reason I asked.

What your doing on 41sqn is absolutely brilliant

          Kindest regards

Well done Andy - it looks great. The rigging comes across particularly well. I made a lot of these limited run biplanes in 1/72 in the 80s and 90s, so I know the kind of thing you've been up against. You've done a much better job than I could do!

I worked with plenty other squadrons, Robert - I was a tac recce specialist - but was never formally posted to any of them as a sqn member. 41 is my one true love!

We all have our crosses to bear! Mine was as a rigger on 202 & 230. I have really enjoyed your build theme over the months and contemplated something similar but I think I'll confine myself to aircraft I worked on. Will you create a thread to showcase all of the builds?

                    Great work Andy.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

Would be nice to see them all on display from the start to the last types.

They will all be on display at various shows this year; I'll take some photos and post them. First show will be Milton Keynes at the end of April

Great job on that biplane. I've always been scared of them and certainly wouldn't fancy a limited run kit like this one, not that you can tell from your model.

I second Joe above, it would be lovely to see all the No. 41 Squadron aircraft together.

                          Cheers

                          Steve

Very nicely done Andy, the finish is superb as is that notorious rigging.
