    Bf 109 F-4, "21st Century Toys", 1/32

    Hi mates!!!

Here is my new "Friedrich" in 1/32 scale. The kit comes from "21st Century Toys".
The model shows an Bf 109 F-4, flown by Oberleutnant (First Lieutenant) Viktor Bauer, Staffelkapitän (Squadron Leader) of the 9./JG 3, Stalingrad June 1942.
The aircraft has an interesting camouflage pattern. Originally painted in RLM 78+79 (African Theatre-Camo) the "Friedrich" got segments of RLM 70+75.

Colors from Vallejo, Gunze and Revell. Washing with diluted oilpaint and use of various pastels. Sealed with a matte clear coat from Humbrol.

    Cheers...
    Stefan

            Lovely job on Bauer's F-4.

9./JG 3 came up with some 'interesting' schemes! They also seem to have liked applying names under their cockpits (Peterle, Maxi, Rio and one that might be LiLiLi, as well as Ellen, spring to mind).

BTW Bauer survived the war and died in 1969. He was credited with 104 victories, 2 in the West (with another two for a Spitfire and a Hurricane unconfirmed) and 102 in the East. All but his first two victories were with 9.JG 3 to which he transferred from 1./JG 77 on 9th March 1940.

            Cheers

            Steve
