Dave W's Matchbox 1/32 spitfire 'A classic from the seventies '

I started this 10 months ago and finally got round to finishing it. It needed quite a bit of filler and a lot of work. It's not perfect but I'm happy with it. I built it out of box including the 35 year old decals. The glue on the stencils showed thru the clear carrier film. So I floated the decals off the paper into a bowl of water. Then I cleaned the glue off, put them back on backing paper and applied them to the model with micro set. I used an HGW fabric harness in the cockpit. A bit fiddly to assemble but worth the effort. I will definitely use them again. The build started out as a mk24. But I eventually finished it as a mk22 of no.603 'city of Edinburgh' sqdn from 1950. The two marks were identical apart from an extra fuel tank in the mk24's fuselage.

Great looking Spitfire Dave, clean, crisp and nicely finished. It was a long time between start and finish, but the wait was well worth it.

Looks great. Nice to see an uncamouflaged finish too, it makes a nice change.

      Cheers

Cracking work there Dave, and as Steve says it's nice to see a different colour scheme on a Spitfire.

A top job there Dave! A mark of a skilled modeller is you'd never know the amount of work that went into making such a beauty

I have to agree Dave, a cracking build and no sign of the issues. Lovely finish mate.

I even managed to find an old picture of your aircraft

Nice job, Dave. You overcame the problems on this old kit really well.

Great result from a trying kit. She does look good in speed silver.

Nice job mate, reminds me of a mustang or a P-47 with that NMF finish
