    Airfix - Hurricane Mk1 finished !

Well here is one of my Christmas presents, the Airfix Hurricane Mk1 which has new tooling.

A really nice kit to build and i took the time to make a nice platform for it to sit on and many other future builds.

    Hope you like it!

Very nice Alex. Love the Hurricane especially in the early black and white underside. Lovely paint job and that base will showcase many other great builds I am sure. Well done.

Very nice! What's the shade of brown you used? Looks spot on!

Thanks, its Humbrol Enamel no. 29 I thinned it down and applied at least two coats then, when I did the panel wash I rubbed some of the excess into the whole model along with some fine ground charcoal in places. It adds to the 'it's been flown a few times' feel to the model and the beauty with using willow charcoal is, you can almost rub it off completely if you are applying it over a clear gloss coat, it's a new technique I found which I'm going to employ in future builds.

Very nice build, and an interesting tip with the charcoal. I'll have to look into that one.

Very nicely finished Alex., and nice to see the 85 Squadron scheme on an early Hurricane.
