    Airfix 1:72 Nakajima B5N1 'Kate'

Another new tool Airfix completed. I do like these new Airfix offerings. As I've said before the detail per £ is very good.

This is the standard of the interior; 1:72 and all OOB.

The green looked a lot better before I sprayed it, then it went all 'David Banner' on me. Youngsters, ask your dad.

The completed build. I had to mix my own red to match the decals, and I nearly got it right.
The silver is Alclad, basic aluminium or something like that.

And that's it. My very first Japanese plane ever. And as well, probably my cleanest model ever. The weathering is so under done, we'll have to pretend the aircraft is just about new.

Fancy posting this superb build straight after posting about my heap of junk!

The difference in detail between my old kit and yours is quite remarkable. It just shows how tooling has progressed.
Top work, and very nicely painted, Colin.

I won't hear of it, there's nothing wrong with your green machine. Honestly, timing was a coincidence.
Tooling has indeed progressed, but I'm more impressed by the fact this is Airfix, the same kit maker I built as a kid. Talk about a renaissance ( thank heavens for spell checking) I'm really happy to see Airfix doing so well. There's a few hiccups in production, but generally, things are good.

Same for me Peter. I've never built a Japanese aircraft before, not even first time around as a kid. Buy it and build it, you'll like it.

Actually a confession about the weathering, nothing sticks to Alclad, it's too smooth - hence the clean look.

Awesome work there Colin. Love the clean look, and youve got a real great finish there too. Great work on that canopy too.

Beautiful finish Colin. Nice to see a Japanese war plane that isn't beaten up or weathered to heck. I like the clean look.

A journey into the unknown for me. Don't tell anyone, but I sort of like the 'look' as well.

Great work Colin - the finish is superb. I had to Google David Banner - and I'm 60!
