    1/48 Tamiya Me 262

Here is my latest effort. A lovely kit apart from one thing, the Tamiya decals - these were so thick I thought I was going to have to use 6" nails to get them down!

In the end, having literally destroyed one of of the serial numbers, I just had to live with them. And, yes, I put down a good gloss coat first.

If you want to go for the full cybershed experience, you can find the videobuild at the following location

However, if you can't be bothered with the whole video thing, here are some pics of the completed build.

    Hope you like.

Sometimes decals are just a pain, no matter what you do. But anyway, this looks great, with excellent detail on the engine. I built a tiny 1:72 one of these (Airfix) and really liked the way the Me262 looks.

Thanks Colin. The annoying thing about poor decals is that when you have spent a lot of time on the model and the paint job you feel a big let down. In this case by Tamiya.

If I had remembered that there are often problems with Tamiya decals I could of used masks for the main balkan crosses and sourced the stencil decals elsewhere. I wont be risking Tamiya's decals again. So, when considering the purchase a new Tamiya kit, I will now have to factor in the price of after-market decals. This is such a shame, as Tamiya produce some lovely kits. I have got one of their Mozzies, and have ordered decals and stencils from another manufacturer.

I doubt I will 'forget' again. We live and learn.

They do, and all at a price, so you could be forgiven for thinking they should do something about their decals. Having said that, the decals on my 1:32 Corsair were fine, but that was heavily weathered.
