    Malaysian Driven P-51 Mustang

    Hi All,

This was a plane I built before the Typhoon honoring one of the Talalla brothers. Cyril Talalla, he was the younger of the two but graduated first and joined the RAF earlier than Henry. He was also the first Asian of ethnic origin to pass the rigid RAF entrance tests and to enrol as a cadet at the government flying school. He was the only non-European selected from almost two dozen applicants from then Malaya.

The kit is from Monogram which gave two canopies, one of them a Malcom hood of which I used. I managed to find an image of Mustang Mk.III, FB226, MT○K, Flg Off Cyril Lionel Francis Talalla, DFC, No. 122 Squadron, Ford, 12th June 1944. in the Air Aces Home Page: Federated Malay States - World War II. Markings had to be stenciled. The roundles were after market decals.

Military Modelling Magazine was kind enough to have a picture of it under the D-Day finished Group Builds compilation in the website section.

    Cheers,
    Richard

      Hi Richard
Another example of your skills and attention to detail.
      I do remember seeing this.

Thank you Ian, Jim, Si and Peter,

Glad it's remembered and it is in 1/48 scale. I just love planes with the D-Day Invasion stripes.

            Cheers,
            Richard
