    1/48 D-7

I finally completed this little dragon 1/48 D-7 in the colors of Ernst Udet.
    Nice little kit.

Looking very nice — you’d think there should be wires between the braces, but looking at photos of the real thing, apparently not. Did you mask and paint the stripes and camouflage, or are they decals?

The D7 is an interesting plane in the sence that the wings were thick in section , strong enough to not need extrenal wire bracing yet it had a lower drag prifile than thin wings with external bracing :-)
I used the decals for the top of fuselage white stripes.Top wing was painted white the masked and stripes painted on, the lozenge are all decals.

Very nice, and colourful. On the subject of bracing. There was a WW1 German aircraft (I can't remember which one) that was so strong, that it didn't actually need struts between the upper and lower wings. However, a strut was added to each wing for phycological purposes. I.E Keep the pilots happy.
