Completed in 2018. As a resin version, very different to my first Airfix one back in late 1960’s. Made me start all over again!

Thanks Lee. This was a Birthday gift as the real Spitfire the model is of, flies over our garden frequently, as they are now based in our local airport. Ive loved Spitfires since a kid so as soon I hear the Merlin engine, Im outside looking for it. The resin model had to be done. Not too good when finished but not too bad; the resin was difficult at time as so fragile. The hardest thing to do were the decals. And they don't look good after being applied, so any advice on how to cover the outer edges would be very appreciated.Comment

Unusual Spitfire. Looks good.
Decals are a real mixed bag. Some are great and lay down nicely and some are thick and just won't behave. I find that copious amounts of a decal softener such as MicroSol and laying decals on a gloss surface helps a lot.

I do the same thing when I hear a different sounding plane or chopper I’m running outside I live in the country not very many unusual planes fly over. On your decals cut them a little closer if you can and use Microset made by Microscale if you can’t get that apply vinegar to your surface first then put your decal on dry it then brush a coat over it and let dry sometimes this works but like Jim said sometimes you get a decal that just won’t behave. Jim is right about the MicoSol it helps soften the decal to go over raised areas but it sometimes won’t help the silvering effect. Microset willComment

Thanks Jim and Lee. Decals applied were not breaking up and moved ok, but yes, seemed too thick over the detailed surface. Also the silver outer edge was annoying, so thank you for saying about Microset. Not heard of that before, something new to try.Comment
