    Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire Mk.1

I started this a long time a go while I was reading John Nichols book, which inspired me to build the iconic British aircraft famed for defending the skies over the area that I live in during a crucial period of the war.

I really wanted to do this kit justice and although I am happy with the result I feel I could have been slightly more patient and careful at times.

This is the fourth model I have completed since I took up this hobby after dropping it in my late teens (some 20+ years a go) and I am learning some very useful lessons along the way.

    Here she is.

Great build Chis. I must get up the courage to do more weathering even though I prefer the "factory fresh" look

I’m not a huge fan of weathering myself. I prefer to go for the ‘museum’ look. I only wash them to bring out the panel lines and detail and using the satin varnish dulls it slightly, which I like.
The other benefit of using water colour is that if it goes wrong I can just wash it off!

Nice looking model, and a suitable finish to show it off, well done.

                              Chris,
                              That is a cracking result.
