Hi guys, completed builds 4 and 5 for the year so far, that's 5 more than last year :thumb2:
I didn't do a build log, as this was an opportunity to experiment with acrylics, weathering, and for the first time, some freehand airbrushing. The kits are Revell's 04374 and Zvezda's 7203. A really old mould that dates back to 1972, but worth the time to make I think. Both were reissued in the 2000's. Very fiddly in places, in need of a little improvement here and there, and that dual wire aerial set up creates a real real mission in 1/72.

The Zvezda decals were not good quality and had no protective paper on them, so rather than risk it, I sourced spares from the Revell sheet and was able to create one of the three options from that kit. That meant I had two goes at creating the two tone grey scheme and practice my freehand airbrushing. Here are the results:
Zvezda, depicting 'Silver 06' flown by a Captain W M Schkurenko, 137 GIAP, Riga, October 1944. I can find no reference to a 'Captain Schkurenko'.

Revell, depicting 'White 52' flown by Captain N P Puschkin, 2 GIAP, Dnepr Front, September 1943. There are photos of La-5 aircraft from this Mongolian unit (the slogan is to do with Mongolians), but again no reference to the pilot.

All paints and weathering on this build were Mig Ammo, the aerial wire Uschi's Fine Rigging Thread.
Thanks for looking in, I hope you like my Russians.
