    Airfix 1/72 Spitfire and Hurricane Prototypes

    With a number of Airfix Hurris appearing on the forum, thought I'd add a small contribution, of K5083 and K5054.
    I had a spare Spit MkI, without a canopy, so i managed to find the old Aeroclub conversion kit. I already had an early Hurri with fabric wings to do the ex-Yugoslav Regia Aeronautica one, and that had a two-bladed prop in it, so...
    Cue filling, sanding, many shades of silver and aluminium with careful masking, judicious use of self-adhesive foil, and acetate sheet to scratchbuild a canopy for K5083, and here we are

        Tangmere has this full size replica of K5054 (original destroyed in 1930's) - cockpit views for reference

          Now, if I'd had those cockpit pics I could've done as much work inside as outside.
          Or, and this is more likely, I wouldn't be finished yet...

                  Here's one that did
                  But if you look around the cowlings, hmm...

                  Now, here's the only true disaster I had with this build, from the varnish overspray of the roundel on the Hurri

                    Now, a few 'how we got here' pics - and I realise I have none of the Hurri in progress, especially all the, not completely successful, alterations to the wings to make them all fabric without the gun bays
