    Revell F-14D Super Tomcat

    Hi,

So here is my 4th build ever. Few points from this build:
    • First airbrushed kit
    • Second kit do have a go at weathering
    • First kit to go on a stand

Overall I am quite happy and looking forward to building next kit. Hopefully, I will apply all what I have learnt from this one

That’s a nice job Daniel. Particularly like the last low angle shot.

Thnx, this kit was full of issues.....especially around wing assembly. This kit had the most sanding by far compared to the previous 3 kits that I built.

HI Daniel very nice job you have made of that tomcat one of my fav aircraft but it would have looked even better if you had put a blue card behind it when you took the pics but brilliant build

Wingy things show up my appalling lack of patience - things with wheels and tracks allow me to conceal my (frequent) errors by careful positioning of mud, bricks, personnel, and (most importantly) the inside of the box in which they came. My WIP stash is a wonder to behold!

That really is very nice indeed. Very well done. Gary better than fourth wingy thing.

WELL Steve have a go in my opinion as you dont know what you can do unless you try an you say that on armour you can cover up errors well dont worry about them as this modeling lark is suppose to be enjoyable an be happy with what youve built as i try on my tiger an if i make an error just accept it as if i worried about everything on my tiger being right id be a nervous wreck an it would never get built just my take on modeling its to enjoy the build

No pilot was included. Trust me the kit was meh. Issues with this kit:
the parts had some grainy finish out of the box
                      No pilots
Wings are to thick to fit, had to sand them quite a bit to close the body during the assembly
Parts had a lot of flash
It came with retractable canards which were not present on the D version of this plane. So I had to close them and fill with putty. Revell does not tell you this instead they tell you the canards should staty and remain movable.
Wing mechanism that links two wings so they move in sync is crap. Often will slip so one wing will move more then the other.
Some minor issues with decal callouts during the assembly.

SO all in all it was a cr*p kit then so if it was then it shows your skills to get it to look real like to me it does then very well done :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: an yes you are right about the canards not bein on the D model as they found out they were more trouble then they were worth

Very nice model Daniel. You have tried new things, learned from the build and had fun - that's what it's all about.

A great looking Tomcat. Flight mode really looks good too.
