    HobbyBoss 1/48 F6F-5 Hellcat - completed..........

Well, this is finished! It's difficult to photograph - the wings hide everything!

I think this goes to show how effective the Hellcat wingfold system saved deck space ( and hangar height ).
The HobbyBoss Hellcat F6F-5 is a great little model, it fits together well, I enjoyed it a lot. I hope the option of wings spread fits together just as well as the folded.
I would recommend the HB Hellcat - it's simple enough for a beginner, but detailed enough to satisfy most people. The Kit decals had gone walkabout, so AM decals were used.
The first time I've done a 3-colour sprayed USN scheme - apart from the usual problems of spraying white, it went quite well...........................
    Thanks for dropping by!

Love that, looks like a real workhorse. The wingfold is shown to advantage as you say. It also takes up far less real estate on the display shelf!

                David,
I think I'd gradually lose interest if I just stick to one topic - and I like to build models that are less common than the normal Tigers, Panthers, although I do like to try things by the less popular makers ( like my ICM Spitfire ).
I think a lot of modellers only really look at the big manufacturers, a shame really...................

Very nice Dave. Building with the wings folded is a good idea, not something we see often.

Lovely job Dave. I'm kind of glad you left it on the shelf for so long - probably would have missed out if you'd finished when you originally started....

Very shy cat Dave, using its wings for cover. :smiling2: Looks like it's been through some scraps in the Pacific. Nicely done.

                          Cheers,
                          Richard

Nice job dave , it looks great with the wings folded , i know what you mean though about trying to get a decent photo , I had the same problem with my Martlet , half the bugger was completely hidden ! . One thing with the folded wings on the Hellcat - it emphasises how wide the tailplanes were ! Lovely build and another one to watch out for on ebay ! cheers tony
