I think that the Trumpeter 1/32 P40’s are much under-rated. The main criticism in reviews is aimed at the shallow cockpit. That may be correct but once the aircraft is ‘buttoned up’ how can you tell, you cannot and it’s not even obvious before cementing the fuselage halves together.
The kit goes together well, decent fit and it looks like a P40.
There is one thing wrong with my build,
this is the short-fuselage version of the F while the markings are for a long fuselage version. I only found that out when I had purchased the decal set and went ahead anyway simply because I rather like the marking and scheme. I am not a rivet counter.
The new ‘Look’ interior set from Eduard comprising of a ‘part replacement’ resin coloured i.p. and ‘steel type’ seatbelts is simply outstanding and far superior to the old etch ip sets rivalling the 3D decals for excellence. In fact I think the Eduard set has the slight edge.
The decals are Kits World and are among the best you can get. I speak as someone who usually prefers masks to paint markings. They went down with no problems at all.
I would advise get metal undercarriage legs as the kit ones are very fragile and the tail wheel leg needs installing early and is vulnerable.
