    Airfix Bristol Beaufort 1/72

What a lot of fun! It has it’s imperfections this kit but they are mostly inside. In the end it’s a great kit with lots of detail on the outside, decent depth panel lines, lots of little bits to add on making it look busy. I added a load of pipes and little maps and things inside which will never be seen now so only scratch is the antennae which I am pretty pleased with. Onwards gentlemen! We march at dawn! Excellent work, really well done. I do like the camo and weathering.

I will be getting the 1/48 ICM Beaufort later this year when it released and I will be really pleased if my effort is as good as yours.

Really fine result Russell. The weathering is nicely restrained so adds authenticity to the build. Great job!

Very very nicely done Russel, I loke the angle shot in the first picture.

                      Cheers,
                      Richard

Thanks all. Folllowing a few heavily weathered projects (really to hone or learn skills) this time I wanted to try and keep it in scale. I’m happy with the result. On the photos, I’m trying to find a way to keep the angle low to give the model some size but without having to become an expert photographer! Not easy, next step is some bases and backdrops that I can wheel out to take the pics.

Great job Russell. This wasn't an aircraft I was familiar with and did wonder why Airfix decided to make it. But, as your build shows, it's a very interesting looking aircraft with all its bits and pieces.

I think they picked it for detailing possibilities. The cockpit, gunners position and navigator station as well as the front bombardier position are huge for a 1/72 so the scratch builder could really have a field day if they wanted to. Then outside you’ve got the turret and guns, attenae and other bits stuck to the wings under and over. Gives it some detailing and, I guess, it’s just not another spitfire. (Nothing wrong with another spitfire or course)
