    Airfix 1/144 Vickers VC-10 (04026)

My build of the Airfix 1/144 Vickers VC-10 (04026).

Apologies for the poor quality photos but at least you can still see the beautiful lines of the VC-10.

This was built from the tanker version of the Airfix VC-10. It was converted into a BOAC Super VC-10 using the Braz resin engines, leading edges and fuselage plugs. Wing fences were fashioned from plastic card. BOAC decals came from 26Decals.

Fantastic job Dave. As you say, it really shows off the graceful lines of this aircraft.

Lovely Dave. I've only seen a real VC-10 twice in my lifetime. First as a little boy at the old Subang International Airport with the BOAC livery and the second as a tanker a year before it's decommissioning flying away from the same airport now as part of the RMAF base as I live a short distance away. The VC-10 was used for flight refueling of the Red Arrows that visited. Distinct beautiful lines.

          Cheers,
          Richard

            Thanks everybody.

In the Sixties my father used to take the family to Heathrow regularly to do some aircraft spotting. I always remember the excitement seeing the tails of the VC-10s towering above us, especially when they were floodlit at night.

The nearest I got to a VC-10 was at the National Museum of Flight, East Fortune, Midlothian in 2013:
