    1:72 Airfix Harrier GR9A

The build log (started partway in...) can be found here. I haven't built a proper kit in a couple years and started this one to kind of get my mojo back. I really was intending it as a quick build, without worrying about details, but I was so happy with it, I wound up doing quite a lot, which you can see in the build log.

This is a recent Airfix kit and goes together pretty well, though the clear section of the sliding canopy was overshot and required quite a lot of work to clean up. It represents ZD433 from Operation "Herrick" in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2009. I have modified the ordinance, swapping out the kit-supplied Paveways with Mavericks. The drop tanks, CRV-7 rocket pods and AGM-65 Mavericks (along with their launch rails) are all designed by me in Fusion 360 software and 3D printed on my Anycubic Photon Mono X resin printer. Other than that, it's pretty much out of box.

I've really enjoyed building this and am quite happy with the result. And most importantly, I am excited to get back to building more kits soon or at least finishing some of the shelf of doom.

    And here it is:

That is excellent. Hard to believe it's only 1/72!!

              All the best.

Ed, very nice model; as previously said, it's hard to believe it's 1:72.

Thanks, everyone. This build has really worked for me in terms of getting my modelling mojo back. I'm actually nearly finished with a long time shelf of doom citizen which I should be posting in the next week or so. I've also really enjoyed this forum as well - lots of activity with encouraging people.

Superb result Ed, especially given the canopy issue you had to work through in you build thread.

Great finish on the Harrier Ed. Doesn't look like a 1/72 from where I'm sitting only the deep engraved panel lines gave the scale reference. What a good start for a mojo revival.

                            Cheers,
                            Richard aka Wabble
