Avis 1/72 Bristol Type 72 Racer (BX 72030)

My build of the Avis 1/72 Bristol Type 72 Racer (BX 72030)

Another cute Avis kit. Not the easiest thing to construct as the fit of parts is awful and the undercarriage components cannot be fitted in such a way as to resemble the original's.

A very nice build Dave, but a funny looking aeroplane.

      Thanks Ian. :thumb2:

I swear it looked more like a Spitfire before I started "fettling" it.

Dave think this well worth the award, Matron was most impressed !

Congratulations. Can't believe it is a real plane and not some cartoon character.

                Much appreciated John. :thumb2:

There was only one prototype made in 1922 and that proved to be a disaster. It was too unstable to take part in any air races and a plan to use as an engine test-bed was cancelled due to it's poor flying characteristics. It was scrapped in 1924.

Well, a fine looking model Dave. But I do wonder if the aircraft designer actually had a successful career in aircraft design, or maybe moved to basket weaving.
