Airfix 1:72 Buccaneer - Gulf war

So, I seemed to have stalled on this one, but finally got it mounted and finished. This Buccaneer now completes my set of three Gulf war aircraft (I know there was more, but I'm quietly ignoring that fact!)

The model was re-scribed all over. Whilst my efforts at scribing need to be refined (loads) there was no way I could not have done it, as this 1:72 model had so little surface detail. I all so bought a rivet making tool and used it on the wings, but clearly didn't press hard enough !

Decals are from the kit and worked really well, even though there are hardly any. However XW895 is wrong, that code belongs to a helicopter. XX895 should be the code for this aircraft - a bit of a strange mistake from Mr Airfix there !

I think that's great Colin! It has a well-used look and the washes you did brought the details out very nicely.

Those 3 make a nice set. Top marks sir!

    Cheers

My three favourite modern British aircraft in one go. Now that I like.

A very nice result as well. The Brick looks great.

        Five from me as well

Thanks all for having a look. Ole, I'm just a bit jealous. I have only seen the Tornado flying, I missed the Buccaneer and the Jaguar - somehow !

i heard them all first except the buc,but the plane that scared the bejesus out of me was a dog fight between an A10 and a tornado, the A10 fell out the sky turned in a field between trees and went out the same way it went in,tornado stood no chance, however the noise was immense and my dog ran home.you 3 planes are awesome though just glad they are models

That is absolutely brilliant. Just compare it with an original to see how authentic the weathering is. Brilliant job and the three of them together look superb.

Weathering, well this is something I am often guilty of overdoing. But this time I managed to control myself - somehow ! Having said that, starting with a nice light colour like humbrol 250, which was lightened even further with a touch of white, was a great base to start from. The great advantage being, my pre-shading didn't vanish as it normally does. Added to that, a bit of post shading with straight H250 and there it was - job done.

You might not believe it Richard, but that pic is one of the many I used as a reference.

Now then Ole, it just gets worse, so you've also witnessed a 'Warthog' in the sky ! The skys over the UK are becomming a bit dull these days, at least it is here in the midlands whre I live.
