    Hawker Tempest MkV Eduard 1:48

What great luck, a wet Sunday. The garage was tidy, as was the shed, so the only thing left to do, finish the Tempest.
JN571, was the aircraft of Wg Cdr Ronald P. Beaumont DSO, DFC & bar, CO of 150 Wing, Newchurch, June 1944.
150 Wing task at the time of the invasion of Europe was to provide air cover over the battlefield and attack enemy ground targets. But from mid June, they were tasked with protecting Southern England from V-1 attacks.
The Tempest destroyed more than 600 V-1's with Beaumont claiming 32.
Beaumont survived the war becoming a test pilot and flew all sorts of jet aircraft including the Lightning and TSR-2., eventually retiring in 1979.

The model, produced by Eduard, so we know it will be a good one. The build went well, I did have one problem with the radiator, but I'm not sure that wasn't caused by me. Certainly, I've never had a problem with Eduard before, so it's most likely, I got something wrong.
Paint is MRP, with Alclad providing the satin coat. I normally finish WW2 aircraft in mat varnish, but did actually find a couple of pictures which indicated a more satin finish.
    Any questions, please shout out.

Stunner Colin, I enjoyed watching this come together in the build thread. I think your slight sheen is appropriate for the finish

Cheers Andrew. That's one of my MK1 generic bases I made some years ago. They often pop up under different models.

I really held back on the weathering this time. I just wanted a 'used' look.

Build it Rick, you will enjoy it.

It was a 50/50 decision, normal mat or satin. I might try a bit more satin in the future.

Thank you all for taking time to comment.

Excellent finish on this iconic aircraft. Only one slight spelling mistake, it is Roland, not Ronald, pre-emptiv text no doubt.

Well spotted. In my defense, Eduard got that bit wrong, I'm just guilty of plagiarism. But now I've actually searched his name, not just the aircraft type I've found so many more useful pictures. Some showing the Tempest as quite a tired looking aircraft - missed a trick there didn't I.
